My 4410 fell in the list posted on the JD WEB site for the transmision recall. My Dealer got a recall kit and picked up my tractor on Friday. They contacted me today and said my unit wasn't on there list needing the recall. I'm happy about this but the WEB page would confuse users. I guess one should wait to get a letter before they act? If they provide me with the list they have I will try and post there serial numbers.

Here is a cut of the E-mail from my service department.
Yes, the number on your s/n plate is LV4410H241721, and is within the s/n range of affected machines. But it doesn't appear on the list of machines that need the recall. Which means, your machine was repaired at the factory or for some other reason doesn't require this program. Deere always sends a letter to customers who own affected machines and asks them to verify their s/n with the one on an enclosed post card. I thought you had received one of these letters. When we talked last week I hadn't received my list of affected machines from Deere yet and also assumed since yours was within the
s/n range, it needed the recall. As of today it's not included in this
program, I can't explain why, but do know if I install the kit I won't get paid. Sorry for the inconvenience, we are planning to get your tractor back to you late today.

Sounds like your dealer is on the ball and takes good care of you in any case. Glad you did not have to have your tractor repaired after all. ....

I received a follow-up message from my Dealer. It seems they might be looking for a range of transmissions with-in that range of tractor serial numbers that was posted. I was quick contacting my Dealer and they didn't have there list of effected machines as yet or mine would not have been picked up. No harm done and it's nice to know they have a system that is looking out for the customer.

Deere knows the s/n's of every machine we sell or have setting on our lot. When a recall comes about, they send us a list those machines were are responsible for. This list will tell us who the machine is registered to, if sold, and the s/n. If a machine does not appear on the list, that means it's not included in the recall. The bulletin released to us about the recall reads: "Some machines within the serial number ranges above were repaired at the factory or do not require this program. An exception list of those units will not be printed. Claims for machines not listed will not be accepted." Hope this helps explain the situation.

Craig, aside from the false alarm on the recal; how do you like your 4410 so far? Any comments or observations of yours would be interesting to hear. I am real happy with mine so far. I just wish the rain would give it a break so I can get it out and use it more without leaving tracks in the yard. Haven't seen you posting much as of late. Is work over at Penn keeping you busy? Thanks again for your help. I have used it many many times. Have a great New Year!

I guess my lacks of posts is proof of how well my 4410 has been doing!! My 4410 has been just great. I had a 4310 for about a year and only traded it to make some attachment changes. The over-all price I was given didn't give me any cause not to go with the 4410 so I did. I not sure if I can say for sure if I sense the HP increase. Seat of the pants feeling under load is that it is a bit stronger.
For me I have found the 72" deck is a much better fit for this tractor than the 60" I had before. I get more mowing done in less time plus I can get closer to objects since the deck extends out past the tractor more. The 48 hoe can really do some work. I also got the HD bucket for the 430 loader. I added the larger alternator and a block heater at purchase time. I really like the block heater. Never had starting issues with the 4310 but the 4410 just fires right up on the coldest days and seems ready for work right away. I can only think it has to help with preventing engine wear.
